The Neighborhood Improv

Featuring Meredith Dylan, Ruben Gomez, Ike Okafor, Karyn Wilson, Meghan Wolff, Rita Boersma, Michael Rogers, Adam Mellerup

March 31, June 2, August 11

Welcome to The Neighborhood - where storytelling and improv join forces! Featuring people from the community telling real-life stories on stage, improvisors then use those stories as inspiration for scenes.

Each month, The Neighborhood features a local group to kick off the performance. After a brief intermission, the night’s storyteller and team of improvisers then create a show never before seen onstage.

Stick around after the show as The Neighborhood hosts an improv jam, where audience members and performers are invited to play together — on stage!

TULIPA

April 28 & 29

By Kate Douglas

Featuring Sarah Jane Agnew

There was a brief moment in the 17th century when a plant could ruin your life. The tulip nearly toppled its economy and turned a stable society on its head. The flower became a luxury item with many individuals paying more for “broken” bulbs (a viral infection that “broke” the petal colors into two or more).

With this riveting time set as the backdrop, TULIPA is a sensual and surprising monologue telling the riches to rags story about a widow in Holland who loses everything in the name of tulips.

Don't Expect Indifference: A Twin Cities Theater Cabaret

Tuesday, April 22 | 7:00pm

Featuring musical acts and performances coordinated by Jungle Theater, Teatro del Pueblo, Yellow Tree Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Pillsbury House Theatre, Trademark Theater, Theater Latté Da, Theater Mu, Park Square Theatre, An Opera Theatre, and Nautilus Music-Theater.

Join the Twin Cities Theater community on April 22nd at 7pm for an artistic response to the moment, particularly the adjusted NEA requirements and the current landscape of fiscal censorship.

Theater companies across the Twin Cities will be at the Jungle Theater to share performance pieces, be together as a community of concerned artists and citizens to demonstrate resistance to what the federal government is doing and how it is hurting our field.

FROM OUR JUNGLE ARTISTS:

With all that is happening in our world, we at the Jungle Theater want to encourage you to take a moment to connect and revel in all the things that expand our world—courage, compassion and creativity. Today we are finding respite in the form of celebration. Celebration of the art we make, the community we build, and the people who support our endeavors.

NEW FROM OUR BLOG: Creating Raushen

Designing for theater is a crucial part of the storytelling process, creating a world to actors to exist, but also to better help audiences understand the subject matter of the show. For this production of THE EFFECT, that meant building a believable and immersive clinical trial experience, while leaving room for the deeply human story of these characters.
