Sarah Hlubik is a postdoctoral researcher studying when human ancestors began using fire. Her research is focused on the Koobi Fora region of northern Kenya, where she works on the oldest archaeological site with evidence for human fire use. Her current project is an NSF-funded study to evaluate fire use during the Early Pleistocene (2-1 million years ago) and the potential evolutionary and environmental effects that fire use would have had.
