Fellowship Applications Close This Friday

The Utah Artist Fellowships are $5,000 awards that recognize the careers of Utah artists demonstrating exceptional creativity in their fields. Fellows are chosen by out-of-state, nationally renowned arts professionals. Selections are based on evaluation of application narratives as well as work samples from the past five years. Fellowships will be awarded in each of these categories:
Literary Arts – Five fellowships
Performing Arts (Music 2026) – Five fellowships
Visual Arts & Design Arts – Eight fellowships
Application closes Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m.

Open Calls from Creative Capital
|
Creative Capital provides support for individual artists through its national, open-call grant program and services to help artists build sustainable practices. The Creative Capital Award provides artists with up to $50,000 in unrestricted project grant funds for the creation of innovative new work in any discipline. The new State of the Art Prize provides a $10,000 unrestricted artist grant to one artist in every state and territory. The Creative Capital Artist Lab provides online professional development courses free of charge. The 2027 Creative Capital Open Call seeks proposals from individual artists in all 50 states and U.S. territories for the creation of new artistic works in the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Film, and Literature. The application portal for the 2027 Creative Capital Award and State of the Art Prize is now open. Apply by April 2.

Bookmark Challenge for Grades K-8
|
The National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Second Lady Usha Vance, has announced the Bookmark Design Challenge: Celebrating America’s 250th — a nationwide opportunity for students in grades K–8. Students are invited to create an original, hand-drawn bookmark reflecting what America means to them. Three national winners — one from each grade band (K–2, 3–5, and 6–8) — will have their designs featured during major 2026 commemorative events, including the Great American State Fair, and will be invited to Washington, D.C., with a parent or guardian. Enter by March 31.

| Young Vocalist
Online Competition
|
Calling all young singers! The tenth annual Young Vocalists Online Competition is now accepting applications. Competition is open to vocalists ages 13 through 18, and the deadline to enter is April 1. Cash prizes are awarded, as well as detailed written feedback for all contestants. Contestants must submit recordings of two classical or musical theatre solo performances.

Free Folk Arts Workshops Available
|
Our Living Folk Arts Education workshop series is accepting applications. This free program allows folk artists from the UA&M Teaching Artists roster to offer hands-on workshops to schools and community groups around the state. Groups can select from a wide range of traditional arts workshops taught by Utah folk artists. You can hold a workshop at the Chase Home Museum in Salt Lake City or arrange to have the artist come to your location.

| Apply for Native Arts and Heritage Fund
|
Creative West is offering the Native Arts and Heritage Fund. This funding opportunity supports individual Native American and Alaska Native artists, culture bearers, and cultural practitioners. This is not a project-based grant. It provides funding, mentorship, and culturally-rooted support to awardees. Apply by March 8.

Apply for a Pitch Session at WAA Conference
|
Western Arts Alliance brings together projects from both emerging and established artists, as well as projects that are tour-ready and works in progress. What unites the projects you see pitched at WAA are bold ideas from trusted creators that have the potential to be the next great performance. Pitches will fit into one of the conference’s three thematic circles: Arts & Entertainment Circle, Youth & Family Circle, or Beyond the Circle. Applications will be accepted by both members (for free) and non-members (for a modest fee). Apply to pitch by March 13.

| Showcase Applications Are Open for Arts Northwest
|
One of the Western region's leading performing arts service organizations, Arts Northwest organizes the annual Northwest Booking Conference. The conference provides opportunities for professional development, fosters organizational leadership and excellence, and welcomes members from the United States, Canada, and beyond. Selected showcase artists will have a 12-minute performance slot. Apply by April 13.
