Facilitated by the Buddhist Chaplain, Venerable Priya Sraman, Emory Buddhist Retreat is an opportunity for students to take a break from the normal busy-ness of life, and to cultivate awareness about their individual and communal well-being. Surrounded by mountains and quietude, we will engage in communal meditations, reflections, recitations, and discussions of selected Buddhist teachings. Students will be expected to practice "noble silence" and to refrain from using all electronic devices such as phones, computers, tablets during the retreat. We will incorporate Buddhist practices such as bowing, recitation of scripture, etc.
Dates: Saturday, October 1st - Sunday, October 2nd. We will leave from Emory at 1 pm on Saturday and return by 4 pm on Sunday. Saturday dinner through Sunday lunch will be provided.
Location: The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center, about 2.5 hours drive from Emory University, Atlanta Campus.
Space is limited.
Priority will be given to Emory University undergraduate students. It's free for students. If you have any questions and/or concerns about the retreat, please consult Buddhist Chaplain Venerable Priya as soon as possible:
