Alex Stern premieres her soul-baring acoustic video for “The Choice” today (4/15) on Sounds Like Nashville. Featuring Stern alongside an acoustic guitar player, the simple but luminous visual performance captures the New Mexico native’s western style.

The lyrics, which mourn over a romance ending, has the singer-songwriter passionately singing, “All I ever wanted was for you to be my man / And I gave you the choice / And you chose to be a boy.”

Stern tells Sounds Like Nashville, “When we recorded this video, it meant a lot to me that it felt as candid and raw as how [the song] was written. Nothing made up, just the truth.”

Co-written by Stern and Jake Anderson, she further explains,“‘The Choice’ is about love – being brave enough to mean it and the strength to let it go when it’s gone.” Stern continues, “Choosing to honor your worth, instead of denying it to convince the wrong person how to love you the right way.”

Stern has previously been part of the CMT Artists Discovery Program in 2018. That same year, she was chosen as an opening act for the Brantley Gilbert Cruise lineup. “The Choice” will be featured on her forthcoming EP, releasing this summer.
