STRIDE Movie Night - John Lewis: Good Trouble

Synopsis: An intimate account of legendary U.S. Representative John Lewis' life, legacy and more than 60 years of extraordinary activism - from the bold teenager on the front lines of the Civil Rights movement to the legislative powerhouse he was throughout his career. After Lewis petitioned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to help integrate a segregated school in his hometown of Troy, Alabama, King sent "the boy from Troy" a round trip bus ticket to meet with him. From that meeting onward, Lewis became one of King's closest allies. He organized Freedom Rides that left him bloodied or jailed, and stood at the front lines in the historic marches on Washington and Selma. He never lost the spirit of the "boy from Troy" and called on his fellow Americans to get into "good trouble" until his passing on July 17, 2020.

Colorism, Black Queerness, Hoodoo; An In-Depth Discussion on Lovecraft Country with Baltimore Racial Justice Action

The first season of Lovecraft Country was popular with viewers. While it had themes of Sci-fi, Horror and Afro- futurism it also dealt with many other important aspects of the Black experience in the United States. During this discussion we will delve deeper into how this show has contributed to the depictions and handling of themes of Black History, Hoodoo, Colorism and Black Queerness in television and society at large.

CASA Teach-Ins

Time: Thursdays (11/12 through 12/20), 6:00 - 7:30pm

Join CASA for an opportunity to get in-depth details and powerful information to combat terrible immigration policies in MD that empower ICE, help shut down three inhumane detention centers in MD, and fight for the right to counsel in immigration court. As CASA allies, we ask that you show up to one of these teach-ins, and take action:

Thurs 11/12 - Limiting MVA data sharing with ICE
Thurs 11/19 - Dignity not detention
Thurs 12/3 - Universal representation
Thurs 12/20 - Passing immigation reform

March for Transgender Day of Remembrance, hosted by Baltimore Safe Haven. Join us as we march in memory of all of our fallen siblings.

Housing Our Neighbors (HON) March

Housing Our Neighbors (HON) is organizing a mass march that will generate a citywide show of support, to continue fighting for the right to permanent housing for all, through a collaborative and generative process with allies and community members, led by those experiencing homelessness, those at-risk of homelessness, renters, and by others directly-impacted by the housing crisis.
