VA announced that the White House VA Hotline, first launched in June as part of President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to reforming VA, is now fully staffed with live agents working to serve Veterans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The hotline, which became 24-hour operational in mid-October, is staffed by a team consisting of more than 90 percent Veterans or a family member of a Veteran. The hotline staffing is in direct response to Veterans’ requests to talk to agents who could relate to their experiences.

“The White House VA Hotline provides our nation’s Veterans with a direct, dedicated contact line that allows them to interact with highly trained, live agents to answer their needs and concerns,” said VA secretary David J. Shulkin.

“Since the initial launch of the hotline in June, we listened to our Veterans, who indicated that they prefer speaking with other Veterans and Veteran family members, and we adjusted our hiring based on that feedback,” added Shulkin.

“We’re proud that the hotline is now staffed 24/7 by a team of mostly Veterans or Veteran family members who have direct knowledge of their particular concerns and can use their experience to address them in the best way possible with the resources of the VA.  This represents a true win-win for Veterans and their loved ones.”

Since 24/7 coverage began in October, the hotline has served more than 10,000 callers.

Hotline agents answer inquiries, provide directory assistance, document concerns about VA care, benefits and services, and expedite the referral and resolution of those concerns. Agents undergo regular updates and training on VA services based on hotline trends and are assisted by newly implemented tracking software to help VA capture and improve its response, referral and resolution processes to best support Veterans.

The hotline can be accessed at 855-948-2311 and is VA’s first non-clinical, non-emergency around-the-clock call center. It provides Veterans a supplemental option to report issues if they are not being addressed through VA’s normal customer service channels.

The hotline’s agents are located at a VA facility in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Agents have access to a multitude of resources and contact information to help Veterans. The hotline also generates real-time reports to VA experts who can help address the specific issues of Veterans as well as make better-informed decisions on where program improvements are needed.

    What can be done about a Doctor completely lying about a C & P exam and stating information on her report that you did not claim or say. Also if a Doctors specialty is internal medicine, do they need other certifications in order to do C & P exams?

    I spent 20+ years bed ridden and or in a wheel chair while under the VA health care system. Had I not started seeing private doctors in 2015 I would probably be dead today, which I believe is the goal of the VA. I am 100% disabled according to SSI but according to the VA I am only 10% service connected for my hearing. After 2 years going to private Doctors I am now able to get out of bed to use the bathroom by myself, shower or bathe myself, go for a walk almost everyday and go to the gym a couple times a week. I have a friend who suffers from some of the same things I suffer from, I was actually his squad leader during the first gulf war, he is 100% service connected. I visited him this past year and he or I cannot understand how we were in the same war at the same time and place but he gets compensated for his disabilities and I struggle to survive on $1130.00 a month from SSI. Maybe someone in Washington can explain this to me.

    I am one of many service people that served
    In theVietnam war theatre (1968) that were awarded the Vietnam service and campaign medals. When the agent orange bill was passed, those medals were the qualifications needed to receive benefits from exposure from agent orange. President
    Bush and the VA changed that bill to having
    Boots on the ground to qualify for benefits
    President Trump and the VA can change that back without waiting for congress to hash out the countless (Blue water navy
    Hr299) bills that they have been footballing
    Around for the past decade! The present bill
    Almost made it out of committe but was tabled again because of funding. It’s not about the vets, it’s about the money!
    There was a suggestion made to fund it
    By taking the cents off veterans checks now
    What a travesty! Eight years and waiting
    on my appeal! HR 299 has more majority
    Bi-partisan support than any of the twelve
    Hundred bills in committe What’s the hold up?

    VA HOTLINE ? that still cant answer why i was given the WRONG DIAGNOSIS in 1982 and had to struggle along on very little money,no psychological help and no meds from the VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FOR 15 YEARS,it also don’t help to rememdy the fact that I have had to wait OVER 2 OR 3 YEARS FOR A VIDEO CONFERENCE at the Montgomery VA Regional Office !

    June 21st, July 31st, Aug 4th, Sept 5th, 14th, 25th, Oct 17th, Nov 9th, 24th, 27th Dec 1st: Puget Sound VA doesn’t respond to complaints. So far the VA hot line staff tells me that my cases is “in progress”.

    Of course this doesn’t surprise me too much, as Puget Sound VA prohibited me from access the local Patient Advocate complaint system from January 2011 thru September 2017: yes that’s right – 6.5 years.

    I’ve talked to other veterans on the Internet about the WH VA hot line. There are mixed reviews; some good, some say they never hear back. Like most things with VA, I think it takes extreme persistence when you are a victim of long term retaliation by VA like I have been.

    SIR,,,I JOINED THE NAVY IN 1955 PASSED BOOT CAMP WITH NO PROBLEMS,,WAS GRANTED LEAVE TIME,, WENT HOME TO SEE MY FAMILY,,THEN RETURNED TO BASE,,AND WAS GIVEN WORK RELATED DUTIES,,AT THE NAVAL AIR BASE WHERE I WORKED DAYLY THEN THE WORST THING HAPPEN,,I WAS COURT MARCHALED AND DISCHARGED WITH A B.C.D. THE REASON THEY TOLD ME I WENT A.O.L. I STILL TO TODAY CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT I DID OR WHERE I WENT TO GET THIS KIND OF A DISCHARGE,,NO EXPLAINATION WAS GIVE TO ME,,, CAN SOME ONE HELP ME TO GET MY DISCHARGE REVERSED TO A HONORBLE DISCHARGE,, I AM NOW 80 YRS OLD THIS DECEMBER,,,HELP,,,

      Hi are you put in the registry at the Va hosiptal then you will get an appointment to be evaluated at the Va one if the Doctor then you can put in your paper work do you have Documentation if the bases that was spray with AGENT ORANGE THAT BASE HAS TO BE DOCUMENTED GO ON LINE AND LOOK UP ALL MILITARY base that is contaminated with it submit that with it and yes i am working with a veteran with a lawyer here is the number they work with veterans just call them and explain your situation my name is Janet i serve in the military 23 years i am at 100% and i help veterans. Hope this will help you. And i serve as President of Jesse Clipper Unit 430 Auxiliary under the American Legion.

      No sorry to say you will not get your discharge upgraded change it is what it is i have work with a veteran to get his discharge upgraded they just do not change them we still go threw a lot as a veteran trying to prove this and that sorry to tell you this.

    I applied for Agent Orange compensation back in 2013 which was disapproved due to the fact I did not serve in Veitnam but I applied due that I serve in Korea on the DMZ 1969-1971 working while being sprayed with agent orange. I submitted an appeal in Aug 2014. VA’s response was it would take 377 days to be reviewed. I ask, how many 377 days are there since than? I submitted a request to speed this up due to financial hardship I get a reply that is will take 377 days , Why am I being screw over like this. Should I hire a lawyer to suit VA? Pleas help. John P.
