Snow College officials signing agreement

Southern Utah University and Snow College have signed an agreement to benefit students pursuing an Elementary Education degree. Eligible Snow College students can now transfer their associate's degree to SUU where they can complete the last two years of their coursework online or on campus.

"This dynamic partnership promises access to teacher education leading to certification while permitting students to remain local,” said SUU’s College of Education and Human Development Dean Pamela Powell. “It assists in  providing new teachers for schools in central Utah and  honors the unique needs and strengths of rural schools."

The “Powerful Pathways Partnerships” field trip to Snow College held a short ceremonial signing of the first transfer pathway agreement in Elementary Education on October 18, 2023. Attended by academic deans, department chairs, and members of the respective school’s provost’s offices, the group networked and brainstormed ways to better assist transfer students in completing their bachelor’s degree in four years without repetition.

“Our new partnership with SUU will allow our students to certify as teachers while remaining part of the Snow College community and working in our local schools,” said Snow College Provost Michael Austin. “This will be a game changer for school districts in central Utah.”

This partnership with Snow College opens the door for more pathway agreements, providing students with opportunities to consider SUU for their bachelor’s degree while removing barriers to earning their diploma.

“This unique and innovative partnership will better serve students and help them to achieve their educational goals,” said SUU’s Associate Provost James Sage. “We are excited to work with Snow College on this and other innovative new partnerships.”
