Challenges of Corporate Governance: The Ultimate Challenge: What Makes a Corporate Board Effective and What Does Not

Wed, 16 September, 2020 5:30pm

Join the Business and Finance Law Program and the GW School of Business Institute for Corporate Responsibility for a panel on positive characteristics of effective boards and red flags of less effective boards.

The panel will focus on the key characteristics of effective Boards and the red flags of ineffective ones. While Boards do not manage the company, they play an important role in setting the tone at the top, hiring and firing the CEO, and overseeing strategy, compliance, risk management, and reporting. The panel will discuss and share insights on Board qualities and practices that have promoted successful companies and improved the performance of companies that were struggling. All panelists all have deep expertise in what makes for corporate governance from different perspectives. The program should be of interest to students of securities law and business management and accounting.
