TEACHERS as SCHOLARS (TAS) offers K-12 teachers content-based, two-day seminars led by university faculty. The seminars provide teachers the opportunity to explore a text, topic, or issue when they are most likely to benefit – during the school day.
TAS offers seminars in the arts, humanities, science, and math. Teachers choose seminars which interest them, regardless of their grade level or content expertise. Annually the program offers over 35 seminars for the 400 teachers participating from our 35 member schools and school districts.

TAS’s professional development program reconnects teachers to their intellectual lives, and they return to their students inspired by the power of ideas.
The seminars include faculty from such institutions as Harvard, Boston University, MIT, Brandeis, Dartmouth, Tufts, Williams, and Babson. The seminars provide teachers with the opportunity to discuss and reflect on scholarly issues with their colleagues and to reconnect to ideas, reminding them of the excitement of learning, the reason many became teachers in the first place.
Most TAS seminars meet at Harvard Hillel on Mt. Auburn Street in Harvard Square. Seminars are also held at the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Huntington Theater, the Boston Public Library, the Arnold Arboretum, and other educational and cultural institutions in the Boston area. This year TAS is also offering three online courses.
