Join the BU Consortium for a 2-Part Event - February 2021
The Boston University Consortium Council is pleased to invite educators from our member districts – Boston, Brookline, Chelsea, Concord, Framingham, Lexington, Newton, and Somerville – to an exciting upcoming two-part virtual event.
 
For those who are new to our member districts, the Consortium is a long-standing partnership of eight local school districts and BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, aimed at collaboratively enhancing educational quality for all. Part 1: Synchronous or Asynchronous
On February 10th, BU’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host a talk by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nikole Hannah Jones entitled, “Class in American Society” as part of their “Learn More” series. Jones will will analyze the question “where do we witness the manifestation of class within our society?” through the lens of education and housing, two of the most intimate areas of American life. In conversation with Provost Jean Morrison, Jones will chronicle and discuss the ways in which official policy has created and maintained class distinctions and offer ways to advance greater equity within our communities and schools. Part 2: Synchronous Discussion
The BU Consortium invites you to a follow-up event for Consortium educators on Wednesday, February 24th from 5:00-6:00pm to reflect on the learning from the event including an opportunity to discuss this work with other educators. You are welcome to attend the event live on February 10th or you will get access to a recording of the talk by Nikole Hannah Jones that you can watch on your own time prior to the 2/24 discussion.
