3/6/2024 3:36:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team has vaulted to fifth in the NCAA Division II South Region rankings as announced on Wednesday afternoon.

UAH was initially rated eighth in the NCAA South Region last week, as UAH has rattled off five straight wins including Tuesday night's Gulf South Conference tournament quarterfinal victory over Christian Brothers at Spragins Hall.

Nova Southeastern remains atop the region in first, followed by West Georgia and Florida Southern in second and third, respectively. Embry-Riddle precedes UAH in fourth, with Lee coming in sixth and Benedict and Clark Atlanta tied at seventh.

UAH boasts a 20-9 overall record that includes 18 victories over South Region opponents, as the Chargers earned the No. 3 seed in the GSC tournament with a 17-7 league record.

The Chargers look to improve their postseason position at the 2024 GSC Men's Basketball Championships semifinal round against third-seeded Lee on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University.

The top eight ranked teams from the NCAA South Region will compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball South Region Championships on the top-seeded team's campus from March 16-19. The GSC, the Sunshine State Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference each have one automatic bid for conference tournament champions.

The selection show for the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball tournament will be on Sunday at 9 p.m. CT.
