Cannabis Media Council

We use the power of media to uplift light-hearted advertising campaigns that show positive experiences with cannabis and normalize consumption across generations.

Though the cannabis industry has made massive progress on the regulatory side and today over half of the American population may legally purchase cannabis products, navigating advertising and media access is inconsistent and often the category is censored altogether.

The Cannabis Media Council aims to turn advertising woes into a way forward. To end the media moratorium on cannabis, the Council connects with publishers and educates them on the opportunity to evolve their media and associated ad inventory, and plans to annually release self-regulated guidelines and best practices for cannabis advertisers.

The Council dares to change the narrative and strives to be the collective voice in cannabis that, similar to the USDA’s “Got Milk?” campaign, broadens consumer awareness and consideration for this amazing plant and her products. Checkoff programs with national, mainstream campaigns are standard in other industries but not yet sanctioned for the cannabis sector. In advance of national legalization, the Council is building the necessary coalition and standards to serve the growing industry’s need to connect with consumers in factual and creative ways via advertising.

The Cannabis Media Council’s fundraising level reflects the organization’s goal to air the first nationally broadcast pro cannabis commercial during the biggest game advertising night of the year.
