Changes Coming To The buc Shuttle – Update

 In Mobility

As you’ve probably heard by now, exciting changes are ahead for Buckhead’s shuttle service. Beginning in April, the buc is becoming an on-demand ridesharing service. What does that mean for you, our loyal buc riders? The most important thing to know right now is that NOTHING CHANGES UNTIL APRIL when the new service launches.

Here’s what’s in store for you (and the new buc) in April:

  • You will still have a free, reliable transportation service to take you to and from the Buckhead and Lenox MARTA stations.
  • You can use the buc to get to destinations other than MARTA stations within the Buckhead service area for only $3 per trip.
  • To access the new buc, you will need to download the Via app and create a rider account. (More details on that as we get closer to launch.)
  • Every time you want to catch a ride on the new buc, you’ll use the Via app to select your pick-up and drop-off location.
  • Wait time depends on demand, but it should be roughly the same as the current buc service.
  • We have a new ride to go with our new service – Mercedes-Benz 12-passenger Sprinter vans that are perfect for quickly navigating Buckhead streets.
  • Lunch hour service is coming back! The new buc will operate on weekdays during morning and evening commutes, as well as 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekdays.

We’re in the process of getting the new service set up and ready to roll in April. Stay tuned for more details!
