Student Information

Do I Have to be a Senior to Attend this Event?

No, this event is open to all educational levels — first year through graduate students and alumni. We encourage all class years to attend DINE. This will be a great opportunity to make lasting connections, learn, and prepare.

Why Should I Attend?

This is a great opportunity for you to build relationships with a variety of organizations that are committed to diversity and inclusion. You will learn about various organizations and opportunities through connecting with representatives.

Will it be Like a Career Fair?

No, this event is not like a career fair. There will be no organizational booths with information; it is a  networking event. Networking events allow for you to connect with a variety of people to learn more about what they have to offer and how to stay connected.

How do I Prepare for the Event?

Preparing for this event is similar to the preparation you would do for a career fair.

We encourage you to do the following:

What Should I Wear?

Business casual attire — jacket not required, ties optional.

Employer Information

The structure of this event allows for students to gain insight about Career Clusters, your organization's corporate culture and policies that work to support employees from a wide variety of backgrounds. Our intention is for DINE to provide organizations exposure to top talent from different communities within our student population and to brand your organization as one committed to fair recruitment and hiring practices.

Who will I connect with at the Diversity and Inclusion Networking Event?

This event is open to all students — undergraduate, graduate and alumni of all majors are invited to participate. Employers enhance your employer brand with Miami University students and share what diversity and inclusion means for your company, make it a part of the conversation at networking events.

What is the event format?

The Diversity and Inclusion Networking Event is a true networking event. The event will begin with an opening presentation. Directly following, employers and students will make connections in small groups and individually.

Do employer attendees have to be human resources personnel?

Representatives from your organization need to be prepared to speak about what diversity and inclusion means for your company. Representatives do not need to be from HR, however they need to be informed about the company, resources and opportunities, especially as it applies to diversity initiatives.

Representatives should showcase mentoring programs, pipeline initiatives and targeted internship opportunities aimed at increasing diversity and inclusion at your company.

Highlight philanthropic efforts your company engages with, especially those that highlight diversity and inclusion efforts.
