Harwick Homes Transforms Mediterranean Mansion into Contemporary Oasis

Harwick Homes has completed a stunning whole home remodel in Mediterra.

The whole home remodel was completed with the goal of brightening the 10,000 square foot home into a transitional style abode. By replacing the heavy Mediterranean influences seen throughout the interior and exterior, like colorful tiles, carved doors and columns, and coffered ceilings, Harwick was able to transform this gorgeous space into a more transitional, contemporary estate.

The brighter space now features a neutral interior color palette, prioritizing light greys and soft browns in the furniture, while maintaining the integrity of the dark brown wood used throughout the cabinetry and ceilings. Collins & Dupont Design Group brightened and opened this space by bringing modern furnishings and sophisticated lighting fixtures to the updated residence.

Harwick transformed the home from old world to new world by focusing on cosmetic finishes, removing heavy precast wall treatments and decorative ornamental corbels, installing new flooring, and adding new simplified detail work. While the majority of the remodel was done to the interior, Harwick also made necessary modifications to the exterior entryway to ensure the two spaces reflected clean lines and open spacing.

According to Harwick Homes Vice President Shane Klepko, “while working on this project, it was easy to see the end result. We established a plan upfront, which is essential when tackling a project of this caliber. We had to recognize that some rooms required more detail than others, which epitomizes the Harwick renovation process,” adds Klepko.

The master bathroom had a tub set within a concrete deck, restricting columns closing off the area, and dark faux finished walls. In order to combat these structural challenges, Harwick turned the existing master bath into a spa-like oasis with a new floor-to-ceiling glass shower, a free-standing tub, custom cabinetry and crystal chandelier with new faucets, wall finishes, countertops and flooring. The luxury homebuilder faced similar challenges in the kitchen. “In the kitchen, we encountered overdone cabinets, large legs on the island, and odd angles, which made it a difficult space to work in. We are very proud of the end result, which is now a well appointed bright space with glass tiles, custom cabinetry, and new countertop ideal for entertaining,” adds Klepko.

Harwick executed a perfect whole home renovation by modernizing the estate without sacrificing the warmth of existing Mediterranean influences. This home is one of four significant whole home remodels Harwick completed in Mediterra within the past two years.
