Galloway, N.J. – Two Stockton University student-athletes were voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III Cross Country/Track & Field teams today. Senior
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) was voted to the
men's First Team and junior
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) was selected to the
women's Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Do boasts a perfect 4.0 grade point average with majors in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Chemistry He was named Academic All-American for the second straight year after earning a Third Team spot last season.
Do became just the third athlete in Stockton history to be named to an Academic All-America First Team (Scott Fisher, baseball 2009; Lisa Shepherd, track & field/cross country 2010) and joined Lisa Shepherd as Stockton's only two-time Academic All-Americans.
In cross country, Do was a three-time NJAC First Team runner, earning those accolades in 2017, 2019 and 2020. He holds two school records in track & field, the indoor 3000-meter run and the outdoor 5000-meter run.
For his outstanding work in the classroom, Do garnered the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar accolades for the second straight year. Do added Arthur Ashe, Jr. national sport winner for cross country/track & field and national runner-up for Male Athlete of the Year.
Preston was selected to the women's Third Team with a 4.00 GPA in Health Science. The junior became the 17th Stockton student-athlete to earn a CoSIDA Academic All-America honor and ninth to receive the recognition in cross country/track & field.
Preston placed fifth in the pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a personal best of 3.75 meters to earn All-American status. In addition, she was an NJAC Second Team honoree and a four-time winner in the pole vault during the outdoor season. Preston was chosen NJAC Field Athlete of the Week twice this year.
She was named an Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar in 2020 and received an NJAC Honorable Mention nod in the pole vault season during the 2019 outdoor season.
