Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University hosted a meet for the second straight weekend, this time the Osprey Open at G. Larry James Stadium. The Ospreys won nine women's events at the two-day meet.
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) and
Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) led the way with victories in an individual event and a relay. Kass won out of 17 runners in the 800m (2:18.89) and joined
Rachel Hayes (Marlboro/St. John Vianney),
Jaelyn Barkley (Hope/Belvidere) and
Paige Baney (Brick/Brick Twp.) to win the 4x800 relay (9:51.25).
Petrolia won the long jump out of 12 entrants (5.21m) and ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay (4:07.74) along with
Emma Conroy (Manalapan/Manalapan),
Abby Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) and
Kayla Sullivan (Manahawkin/Delaware Valley).
Stockton had three more field event winners.
Michaela Pomatto (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) captured the discus out of 25 competitors (38.42m) while
Megan Campanile (Waretown/Southern Regional) took the javelin in a field of 19 (37.22m) and
Madison Fey (Easton, Pa./Freedom) won the pole vault (3.20m).
Additional track winners were
Ashanae Morrison (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) out of 23 in the 100m (13.10 seconds) and
Abigail Gallacher (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) in the 100m hurdles (16.83 seconds).
Kass and the 4x400 qualified for the AARTFC Championships along with Morrison and
Khristina Washington (Hammonton/Hammonton) in the triple jump and
Kaitlyn Vervier (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) in the high jump.
Stockton will go on the road for the first time in the outdoor season when they compete in the University of Delaware Invitational next Saturday, April 6.
