Stockton Defense Stifles TCNJ 75-55

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-1, 4-0 NJAC) remained unbeaten in NJAC play with a convincing 75-55 victory over The College of New Jersey (5-3, 2-2 NJAC) on Wednesday night. Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) led a trio of Ospreys in double figures with a game-high 20 points.

Stockton, who never trailed in the contest, jumped out on the Lions by a 14-2 margin at 11:33 of the first half. A pair of triples by Lubrano, four points by Nick Duncsak (Toms River/Toms River North) and two points each from Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) and Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) gave the Ospreys the lead.

TCNJ closed to within three at 17-14 with 7:07 remaining in the first half, but that would be as close as the Lions would come on the evening. Stockton closed the half outscoring the visitors 23-12, with a finishing 12-6 run. Five points by Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central), four by Jamar Johnson (Penns Grove/Penns Grove) and a three-point play by DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) made the score 40-26 at the break.

The Ospreys never took their foot off the gas in the final stanza, leading by as many as 24 points before settling the final score at 75-55 for Stockton's fourth straight win.

In addition to his 20 points, Lubrano, who shot 6-12 (50%) from behind their arc, topped Stockton with eight rebounds. Williams added 12 points in an efficient 15:47 of play on 5-6 shooting and Campbell chipped in with 10 markers. Stockton's defense shut down the TCNJ offense, forcing 19 turnovers that led to 28 points.

Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) with three steals and five assists, along with Johnson, led the way on defense. The pair helped shut down the NJAC's second-leading scorer Anthony DiCaro, who came into the contest averaging 21.1 points per game, holding him to just five points, all in the first half, and forcing six turnovers.

TCNJ's Naysean Burch scored 12 points, with teammate Danny Bodine adding 11 markers. Bodine led all players with nine boards.

Stockton will face Montclair State in another home contest on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
