    I loved the Statler Brothers and have several Jimmy Fortune CDs. My wife and I were very impressed witl Jimmy.s and hearing how his personal life was the basis of his musin that he wrote> Before this DVD we liked Jimmy as a person who can express his experiences witt his written music.

    This is one of the best music DVD's that we over heard. I went and ordered more of his DVD . They are inspiring!

    This Bluegrass/Southern gospel album is something special. What makes it special is not just Jimmy's singing and playing, which are outstanding. The classic hymns are by far the best part of the album. What elevates the album is the female harmonies (Sydni Perry Isaacs and Sonya Isaacs, especially), and the accompaniment, all very, very, high level. Sydni's husband Ben produced the album for the Gaither organization, an amazing job. Sydni's violin work on Life's Railway is extraordinary. The only thing I would have preferred is for the album to have been split into two albums, one for classic hymns and one for hits. Jimmy's Rock of Ages rendition is the best rendition I have ever heard. I would also have preferred to have the female accompanists elevated to duet status with Jimmy. He should make a bluegrass/southern gospel-hymn double-duet album, one album with Sydni and one with Sonya, both produced by Ben. If Jimmy ever does that, either or both gospel albums should be in the running for a Best Gospel Grammy. I didn't particularly care for the mix of hits with gospel. I understand that the album showcases Jimmy as a soloist, but when I listen to an album, I want all secular or all gospel, not mixed. I listen closely to the interaction of the vocalists and the musicians. When there is a different female singer doing harmony from one song to the next, it is hard to follow who is who when their voices are so similar. When you hear such amazingly talented female vocalists, you want to hear more of what each one can do, not only doing harmony. Just the gospel songs, such as Rock of Ages, are so well done that they are among the best I have ever heard. I listen to the gospel part of the album almost exclusively because it is so well done. Even with my quibbles, it was worth my buying the album just for the four classic gospel songs.

Great harmony. I also like the song More Than A Name On A Wall with the Isaacs - as they are one of my all-time favorite gospel groups... with such tight harmony. BTW, there is also a DVD available of this available but if I recall most of the background singers are just Mike Rogers & Sydni Perry... as well as Dailey & Vincent...a production of the Gaither Series.
