If you or your kids have an interest in animals, or if you're just looking for some free, family fun, you may want to head out to the Texas A&M Vet School Open House on Saturday, March 24th.

Providing learning opportunities and inspiring the next generation is what the event is all about.

"'Oh my gosh, you're a veterinary student, that's what I want to be when I grow up,' They ask you for pictures and ask you questions. It's really great. It's an amazing experience getting to be like 'Wow, I am actually getting to show them why I love this and maybe they will do this too," explained Pamela May, a third year vet student and the director of the open house.

There will be outdoor and indoor exhibits. There will be plenty to learn about dogs, reptiles, horses, cattle, and more.

Teddy bear surgery, a favorite for many kids, will be going on in VIDI 210.

There will also be several lectures going on. They will cover topics like ‘Picking the Right Pet’, 'The Adventures of being a Veterinarian', ‘Life of a Large Animal Vet’, and more.

New this year, there will be food trucks and several horse demonstrations going on at the Large Animal Hospital. The demonstrations will include barrel racing, jumping, polo, roping, and more.

There will be shuttles running from the General Services Complex and dropping families off at the Main Entrance from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The last shuttle leaves at 3:00 p.m.

The open house is going on from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Education Complex. That building is located at 660 Raymond Stotzer Parkway in College Station.
