Staten Island, N.Y. – Stockton University kicked off the spring semester by competing in the Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The meet was the first for the Ospreys since December 7. The Stockton men registered three individual runner-up finishes and the women notched one runner-up finish in a relay.
Edward Dennerlein (Chatham/Chatham) placed second out of 56 in the shot put with a toss that was a personal best and ranks third in NCAA Division III (16.95m).
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) tied for second out of 20 in the high jump (1.94m) while
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) finished second out of 24 in the pole vault (4.35m).
Qudratullah Qadiri (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) finished fifth in the pole vault (4.20m) and
Tom Strychowski (Lanoka Harbor/Lacey Twp.) was sixth in the shot put (14.30m).
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) placed seventh in the weight throw (15.99m) and Dennerlein was ninth (15.59m), with both Ospreys establishing personal bests.
The women's quartet of
Maria Antoni (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland),
Jesse DeLello (Warren/Watchung Hills),
Amanda Logie (Scotch Plains-SP Fanwood) and
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) finished second in the 4x800 relay (10:16.91).
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) placed third in the triple jump (11.57m) with a leap that stands fifth in the nation and was one centimeter short of her school record.
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) tied for fourth out of 29 in the high jump (1.60m) and
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) finished fourth in the pole vault (3.35m).
Jy'Asia Bivins (Toms River/TR South) placed seventh out of 43 in the long jump (5.07m) for the Ospreys as well.
Stockton will compete again next Saturday, January 25 at the Franklin & Marshall Coach I Open.
