Chester, Pa. – Stockton University was one of over 30 teams to compete in the two-day Widener Invitational over the weekend. The Ospreys won a total of three events and broke one school record at the large meet.
Carson Latham (Bordentown/Bordentown) won the 100m in a field of 75 sprinters (10.98 seconds) and finished third out of 94 in the 200m (22.04 seconds).
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) collected another victory in the pole vault (4.65m) and teammate
Joseph Morales (Toms River/TR North) was the runner-up.
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was the lone female winner for Stockton as she captured the pole vault (3.70m) and
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) was fourth (3.10m).
Aidan Burns (Mullica Hill/Clearview) placed third out of 75 in the 100m (11.11 seconds) and sixth out of 94 in the 200m (22.52 seconds).
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North) set a new school record and finished third out of 89 runners in the 5000m (14:46.96).
Third-place finishes also were notched by
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) in the hammer throw (57.14m) and
Ian Santiago (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) in the triple jump (13.20m). In addition,
William Gross (Marlton/Cherokee) was sixth out of 29 in the discus (44.74m).
For the Osprey women's team,
Olivia Harris (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake) finished third in the steeplechase (11:52.19) and a trio of Stockton competitors placed fourth in an event.
Funmilayo Aka-Bashorun (Lawrenceville/Lawrence) was fourth out of 23 in the 100m hurdles (16.52 seconds),
Khristina Washington (Hammonton/Hammonton) was fourth out of 37 in the long jump (4.95m) and
Rodina Hewedy (Manalapan/Manalapan) was fourth out of 29 in the javelin (34.96m).
Jenna Vigorito (Columbus/Northern Burlington) finished fifth out of 28 throwers in the discus and
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) placed 12th out of 76 in the 800m (2:19.97).
Next weekend, Stockton will compete in the Lions Invitational at The College of New Jersey on April 29-30.
