Rock ‘n Dough Pizza Co. is expected to occupy 5,000 square feet of space at the $21 million Skyline Center mixed-use development, which will also include a 126-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel.

Grading should start within two weeks toward construction, according to the partnership behind the project. On Tuesday, that group of investors also behind the CityLights and Poston at the Park condominium projects rising elsewhere in Nashville paid an affiliate of TriStar Skyline's owner HCA $806,000 for the 3.3-acre targeted property at 3505 Skyline Way.

"We see this as a unique chance to help shape Nashville’s most prominent point of entry to the north," said Jarratt Bell, managing partner in Skyline Hospitality LLC, referring to the project location near Interstate 65 and Briley Parkway. "I expect further development to complement the Skyline community over the next few years."

The 5,000 square foot restaurant at Skyline Center will be the fourth for Rock ‘n Dough Pizza Co., which began as a food truck and now has full-service locations in Memphis, Jackson and Germantown in West Tennessee. It will serve stone oven pizza along with wings, salads, burgers, wraps and grinders. In addition to craft beers that will be brewed on location, Rock ‘n Dough will offer a full cocktail menu and its house-made root beer.

Jerry Corley, co-owner of Rock ‘n Dough, said his restaurant group has been looking at potential sites around Nashville for several years. "This area given the hospital, the opportunity to open in conjunction with the Hampton Inn and the traffic back and forth is why we're excited about this location," he said, citing the possibility of adding additional locations here. "We're looking forward to bringing our pizza and our beer to Nashville."

Skyline Hospitality will develop and own the seven-story, 80,000 square feet Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville North Skyline Center hotel, which also will have 2,000 square feet of meeting space. Owensboro, Ky.-based LinGate Hospitality will run the hotel, adding to its rooster of clients that includes the Marriott Courtyard and Fairfield Inn near Opryland.
