Awards

The Rodney A. Robinson Equity in Education Award will recognize RPS teachers, staff, and administrators who have made significant contributions to the important work of promoting equity in education for all RPS students. 

The award seeks to honor individuals who have demonstrated considerable effort in advancing equitable outcomes for students, encouraged courageous conversations, and whose value, service, and leadership serve as an inspiration to others in the RPS community. 

Selection Process:

1. Call for nominations

2. Nominees submit application

3. Applications reviewed

4. Committee reviews applications and makes recommendation to Superintendent

5. Superintendent selects winner 

Selection Criteria:

• All applicants must be full-time RPS employees who have worked at RPS for a minimum of two years.

• Applicants must complete each part of the application process.

Application:

• Nominations may be submitted using the Award Nomination Form.

• One to two letters of recommendation, one letter must be from their current manager. The following should be included:

  • How has this individual advanced equitable outcomes for students and inspired others to do the same?

  • One anecdotal story demonstrating their efforts to ensure education equity for all students.

• Resume

The Lucille Brown Impact Award will recognize RPS teachers, staff, and administrators who have made significant impacts over the course of their career in the achievement and well-being of RPS students.

Selection Process:

1. Call for nominations

2. Nominees submit application

3. Applications reviewed

4. Committee reviews applications and makes recommendation to Superintendent

5. Superintendent selects winner 

Selection Criteria:

• The award seeks to honor individuals who have demonstrated considerable effort throughout their career in advancing the educational outcomes of RPS students. 

• All applicants must be full-time RPS employees who have worked at RPS for a minimum of twenty years.

Application:

• One to two letters of recommendation, one letter must be from their current manager. The following should be included:

  • What impact has this person made on their students during their career?

  • One anecdotal story demonstrating student growth and academic excellence as a result of their teaching or other support of students.

The RPS Principal of the Year Award recognizes principals who go well above their day-to-day demands to create an exceptional educational environment for our students.

Selection Process:

1. Call for nominations

2. Principal Directors review nominations and select a finalist from each cluster

3. Superintendent selects winner from finalists

4. Winner is notified

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated leadership in establishing the pace, character, and mission of the building.

• Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in providing comprehensive programs and services for all levels and grades.

• Evidence of positive parental and community involvement in the school and student involvement in the community.

• Evidence of enhancing positive interaction between all levels of students.

• Utilization of outside resources for program enhancement.

• Evidence of collaborative involvement of all staff in decision-making and program implementation.

• Evidence of instructional leadership in support of quality teaching and student achievement.

Application:

• Nominations may be submitted by any individual using the Award Nomination Form to include a brief statement of nomination.
