On average, it takes 35 times before a woman reports abuse. 35 times. Belgian magazine Knack dedicated 40 extra pages to this painful statistic and violence against women in general.
On the International day of the Elimination of Violence against Women, Knack launched their campaign in the most personal way possible.
Christel, a real victim of domestic abuse, testified during the popular morning show of radio station Studio Brussels. She read out 35 reasons that led to her abuse. 122 confronting seconds to start the debate on violence against women.
Immediately after she shared her story, many listeners sent messages of support for Christel or shared a piece of their own story. Then, the radio host and a journalist of Knack Magazine continued the conversation about violence against women and the extra issue.
