Gun culture runs deep in the U.S. So much so that Americans are often blind to its true impact. In fact, firearms are the leading cause of teenage deaths and suicides in the U.S., as well as the most common method of domestic violence in America.
But these statistics remain unknown to everyday Americans. So, Change the Ref, a non-profit organization founded by the parents of Joaquin Oliver, a victim of the Parkland High School mass shooting, set out to remind us all that guns are behind some of our nation’s most horrific data points.
The data was interpreted by a team of activists and turned into a powerful visual that serves as a stark reminder of the far-reaching effects of the American gun epidemic.
