Michigan Health Sciences Career Development Academy is a 10-week program designed for rising junior and senior undergraduates or recent graduates of an accredited college or university who are interested in attending medical school.
CDA offers a diverse, inclusive environment and helps students with the process of studying for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and applying to medical school. The curriculum is aligned with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Core Competencies.
This program is open to all students with an interest in medicine and health equity. Students from underrepresented groups in medicine, rural communities, and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Students may not take academic classes or be engaged in other activities that would prevent them from attending all training sessions and workshops. This program is designed to be a full-time experience, including scheduled workshops during daytime hours, as well as evening and weekend activities.
- U.S. citizen or legal resident
- Valid U.S. Social Security number
- College junior, senior, or recent graduate (within the last 3 years) who are planning to apply to medical school
- Demonstrated socioeconomic disadvantage, educational disadvantage, or desire to work in underserved communities
- Minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA
- Minimum 3.2 science GPA
Completed the following courses:
- 2 semesters of Chemistry with labs (e.g., Inorganic, Organic, General, and Biochemistry)
- 2 semesters of Biology with labs
- 1 semester of Physics
- 1 semester of Math (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Calculus)
- American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) preparation
- Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) preparation
- Leadership and professional development training

Students gain exposure to U-M Medical School and Michigan Medicine healthcare professionals. The curriculum is aligned with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Core Competencies.

The URA program includes numerous evenings, as well as a few weekend activities designed to build community and awareness. Students may not take academic classes or be engaged in other activities that would prevent them from attending all training sessions

- Experience presenting summer research at a U-M Research Symposium
