DULUTH, Minn. – The No. 37-ranked Carleton College women's tennis team concluded the winter term portion of its schedule with an 8-1 victory at College of St. Scholastica.
Zoe Rose (So./Tacoma, Wash./Charles Wright Academy) and
Amelia Asfaw (So./Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) each won in both singles and doubles.
The Knights (7-0, 4-0 MIAC) grabbed the early lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. Asfaw and
Mary Hose (Jr./Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) cruised to an 8-0 win atop the lineup, while
Piper Brown (So./Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Porter-Gaud) and
Kathryn Burton (Jr./Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) secured an 8-5 result at the third slot. In between, Rose and
Sydney Bell (Sr./Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes) won a thriller at No. 2 doubles, prevailing 8-7 (7-1).
In singles play, the Saints (2-5, 0-4 MIAC) picked up their lone triumph at the top spot, but the other five matches went in the Knights' column in convincing fashion. Asfaw prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, with
Mariam Nechiporuk (So./Portland, Ore./Lake Oswego) adding a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the third slot.
Miriam Shteyman (So./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and
Alise Pedersen (Sr./San Anselmo, Calif./The Branson School) shutout their opponents at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively, while Rose registered a 6-0, 6-2 at the fifth slot to conclude the match.

Carleton will take a break for winter term finals before embarking on its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, SC. The Knights have matches slated for four consecutive days from March 20-23.
