Gonna Need A Truckload Of Milk

Arizona Lotus Radio and Patio Pools and Spas are joining forces today to present "Tucson's Largest Cereal Bowl" -- a daylong cereal drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. The 12-hour event will take place at Patio Pools at 22nd and Pantano and will be broadcast live from 6am to 6pm on Lotus Classic Rock KLPX, Alternative KFMA (Rock 102.1), Regional Mexican KCMT (La Caliente 92.1 & 95.7) and Spanish Adult Hits KTKT (La Buena 94.3). Listeners will be encouraged to drop off new, unopened boxes of cereal, oats and peanut butter, with the goal of filling the giant "cereal bowl" -- a.k.a. an above ground swimming pool -- with 3,500 pounds of donated food.
This cereal drive is designed to alleviate hunger during a particularly difficult time of year. With kids out of school and electric bills rising, the summer months can be challenging for some local families. Children who rely on free school meals throughout the school year often go without when school is out.
Donations of cereal, oats, and peanut butter can be dropped off throughout the event at two Patio Pools locations. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Thanks to Century Link, monetary donations made online or in person will be matched. To donate online, visit communityfoodbank.org/CerealBowl.
