This fall, the 2017 Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center season will open with the local premiere of a new musical based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney Film: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. With a lush, emotionally rich score and beautiful choral arrangements, this epic musical is a dramatic retelling of the tragic Hugo classic. Darker than the Disney film and closer in plot to the novel, the musical showcases the film’s Oscar-nominated score and introduces stunning new songs in the only stage collaboration between two masters of American musical theatre, Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin).
This production will be presented in collaboration with the Fort Knox Federal Credit Union and will replace the previously announced production The Secret Garden.
PAC Director Bart Lovins is thrilled to be able to bring to the stage a production that will build off past PAC ProAm successes such as Les Miserables and Disney’s The Little Mermaid. “Although I’m a huge fan of The Secret Garden and still look forward to bringing it to our audiences someday, I didn’t feel I could pass up this opportunity to do Hunchback.”
Auditions will be held July 17 and 18 with audition materials available online at www.ThePAC.net two weeks prior.
