What are your voting options?
Early Voting has begun in Ohio and many other states as well. Many cities are seeing record numbers in early voter turnout. On October 13th, Miami's Civic Engagement team drove down to the Butler County Board of Elections and voted early in person. There are three ways Miami students can vote this election.
Vote Early in Person
Drive down to the Butler County Board of Elections and vote in person.The drive is about a half hour from campus. You can find the schedule for voting early on the BOE website. For proof of an Oxford address, students can go to their mymiami homepage and search for “Voter Proof of Address (for students)” under the Miami Web page Index.
Vote in Person on 11/3
Miami students who live on campus can vote in Millet Hall, while those who live off campus will have to check with the Board of Elections to find their local polling place.
Vote by Mail
If you live out of state, or are concerned about COVID-19, go to your local county Board of Elections and figure out how you can vote by mail. Every state’s vote by mail is different, so make sure you are following your states’ instructions. If you wish to vote by mail, request your ballot and send it back in as soon as possible to ensure your ballot makes it in time.

Presidential Debate Cliffnotes

On Thursday October 15th, the American people witnessed something different in the presidential election race. A traditional debate stage was instead replaced with two separate town halls given by both candidates at the same time. Former Vice President Joe Biden hosted a town hall event at 8pm ET with ABC, while President Trump hosted a town hall at 8PM ET with NBC. Both events had each candidate taking questions from voters. The President's town hall lasted 60 minutes, while the former Vice President’s Town Hall lasted 90 minutes. On Thursday October 22nd, voters will see a return to the more traditional style of debate.
The next presidential debate will take place at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee at 9 pm ET and will run for 90 minutes. Viewers can watch the debate on CBS and other major news sites. Grab some friends, and enjoy the viewing of the final presidential debate before the election.

Sustainability Week
Join the Student Sustainability Council (SSC) and all other sustainability organizations for Sustainability Week! October is Campus Sustainability Month, so these organizations are going beyond their everyday activities and events to invite all Miami students, faculty, and staff to learn more in a fun way! These events are the perfect opportunity for engaging with and building a community on campus.

- Miami has signed the PCLC and is finalizing representation on the Climate Action Task Force that will help Miami move towards carbon neutrality and climate resiliency.

Plasma Drive
Hoxworth Blood Center and Miami University hav announced plans to host the first ever convalescent plasma collection event in Ohio.
The convalescent plasma drive, sponsored by Miami’s Fraternity and Sorority Life, will be
held at Miami University’s Armstrong Student Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Convalescent plasma is collected from recovered COVID-19 patients who have developed
antibodies against the virus in their plasma. Transfusions of plasma may ameliorate the
progression of the disease and even in some patients change significantly the outcome
of the disease progression.

Individuals who have recovered from a documented infection of COVID-19 and have
been symptom free for at least 14 days, are eligible to donate. The donation process will
take approximately 90-minutes. Hoxworth will be following social distancing guidelines and taking extra safety precautions to protect the health and wellness of both donors and staff, including
changing gloves between donors and sanitizing surfaces regularly. Masks are required
per local guidelines.

The United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Fellowship proudly present the Millennium Fellowship. The Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program on your campus to take your social impact to the next level. Access to world class training, connections, and recognition is just an application away.
The Application for the Class of 2021 is now open for undergraduate students around to the world. Students apply independently and campuses with cohorts of 8-20 students are offered the opportunity. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
