Austin Peay’s Art + Design to celebrate student work with annual juried exhibition
The Department of Art + Design will celebrate the end of the 2021-22 academic year with the 54th Annual Juried Student Exhibition. The professionally juried exhibition opens in The New Gallery on April 4 and runs through April 27.
The exhibition will culminate with a reception and awards ceremony from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on April 27. All are invited to attend the free ceremony.
Art + Design is proud of its students and wants to reward its outstanding student artists for their hard work and creativity. The 54th Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition is professionally juried from outside Austin Peay State University, emulating the practice of real-world art shows. The exhibition showcases the best artwork produced by students during the past year and allows students to participate in a professional exhibition where a qualified juror selects artwork and artistic merit awards. Critically Acclaimed Novelist J.T. Ellison to Keynote 17th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, May 19 and 20
The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council is partnering with the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at APSU and the Tennessee Arts Commission to once again bring acclaimed authors to town for the 17th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference.
The event will be held Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20, at the Art + Design Building on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
Austin Peay music professor composes piece to help First Presbyterian celebrate 200 years
The First Presbyterian Church has commissioned an Austin Peay State University music professor to compose a piece for choir and organ to celebrate the church’s bicentennial.
Dr. Jeffrey Wood wrote the work – “Windows of the Sky” – last summer, and the church’s choir started rehearsals on the piece earlier this year. Wood’s composition will be the centerpiece music of First Presbyterian’s Community Bicentennial Celebration, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. Read more apsu.edu/news/march-2022
