Solar Decathlon Winner

Congrats to Paul Tully (BS-ACRH, '22), along with Architectural Engineering classmates, in winning 1st place in the Solar Decathlon competition's Education Building division. The team was lead by Anton Harfman's Independent study course . Check out their presentation here.

Alumni Spotlight

Olivia Capuano (BSID, 2009) started her namesake design firm, Olivia Jane Design, in 2019 after working for Rockwell Group for several years. Since then, she has completed several compelling projects, including, most recently, a new 6,000-square-foot restaurant for Bobby Flay in Las Vegas called Amalfi. She also undertook a complete rebranding and redesign of Bobby’s Burgers, Bobby Flay’s fast food restaurant. She is currently working on a number of projects, including a restaurant and bakery in New Jersey, numerous residential projects in the city and the Hamptons, a jewelry store and more.
ArchNative spoke with Olivia about her journey to starting her own company, her process and approach to each new project she works on, and what advice she would give her younger self. Read more here

Big Ideas for Small Lots
Only If is a New York City-based design practice for architecture and urbanism founded in 2013 and led by Adam Snow Frampton, AIA and Karolina Czeczek, RA. Karolina, a former instructor with SAID, and Adam were one of five teams selected to proceed to the second phase of this competition New York launched to dispense 23 of its vacant, small, and irregular lots.
Research into the potential of New York’s vacant lots to address the lack of affordable, quality housing led Czeczek and her partner  Frampton to their most important experiment yet: their own Narrow House, completed in 2021 on a 13-foot 4-inch-wide lot in Brooklyn.
