BASEBALL FALLS TO WEST AGAIN

Mason dropped a key GMC game 5-0 to Lakota West at Prasco Park on Friday night as part of the Cincinnati Reds Futures Series.  In a well-pitched game by both teams, The Comets' defense failed to execute in a couple of key moments, which led to Lakota West scoring four unearned runs in the game.  In addition, the Mason offense was held largely in check the entire night - generating just five base hits (all singles).

Nick Northcut (3-2) was the starter for Mason, and deserved a better fate.  He allowed just one earned run on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts in his five and 1/3 innings of work.  Joey Bowlin pitched the final inning and 2/3 for Mason, allowing no earned runs, two hits, and no walks while striking out one.

Mason (11-5 overall, 7-5 GMC)  is now three games behind co-leaders Lakota West and Fairfield in the GMC with six league games remaining.  The Comets travel to Oak Hills on Monday, April 24th to begin their two-game series against the Highlanders.  Oak Hills will visit Mason on Wednesday, April 26th.
