Pre-Law Walk-In Hours
Advisors will be holding walk-in advising hours at the following times:
  • Monday: Appointments only
  • Tuesday: 9am-3:30pm
  • Wednesday: 9:30am-12:30pm
  • Thursday: 9am-1pm

Pre-Law Advising Appointments
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm. Please call the GFS Front Desk (213-740-2534) to schedule an appointment with an advisor or email prelaw@usc.edu to meet with a current USC Law student.

21st Century Refugees: Seeking Protection in America
Thursday, October 6th at 12PM, LAW Room 3
People fleeing persecution have come to the USC seeking protection for as long as the US has existed.  But the reasons people flee are always changing. Two USC Gould professors, Niels Frenzen and Jean Reisz, will talk about who today's refugees are, what happens when they reach America, and how USC Gould law students provide legal representation to these refugees.  Recent successes by students in the Gould School's Immigration Clinic will be discussed, including the cases of two Tanzanian girls with albinism, Salvadoran children threatened by organized gangs, and gay men and women from several different African countries.

UCLA On-Campus Information Sessions 
The UCLA School of Law Office of Admissions will be hosting two on-campus information sessions on October 13th and November 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We will discuss the law school application process, have a Q&A period and offer an optional tour of the law school following the presentation. We will provide dinner as well! Columbia Undergraduate Law Review  
The Columbia Undergraduate Law Review, a journal of undergraduate legal scholarship based at Columbia University in the City of New York, is accepting submissions for its Fall 2016 issue. The deadline for submissions is October 1st at 11:55pm but we encourage you to submit before that deadline.  In recognition of the various paths undergraduates may take to study law, we welcome submission of research articles, senior theses, and essays embracing a wide range of topics and viewpoints related to the field of law. Undergraduate students in any major, track, or class year should thus feel free to send us their work. Check out www.columbia.edu/cu/culr to view past journals or to read our mission statement.
Submissions should be double-spaced in Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format, follow the Chicago style, and include endnotes as well as a Works Cited section. Although we will consider submissions of any length, the majority of published pieces range from 20 to 25 pages. It would be highly appreciated if longer papers could be shortened to fit this page length recommendation before submission. In the document, please also include the following information: 
1.     Your name
2.     Current email address and phone number
3.     Undergraduate college/university
4.     Year of graduation
5.     Title
6.     Indicate whether the paper is about: International Law, Domestic Law, Historical Law, or Other
7.     250-word abstract
8.     Short explanation of when and why paper was initially written

USC Gould Continuing Legal Education - Paid Network Opportunity 
The USC Gould School of Law’s Continuing Legal Education office would like to inform you of a paid networking opportunity for students.  Each year, our office hosts legal seminars on various topics.  For each seminar, we hope to enlist the help of USC students.  The upcoming fall seminars are Institute on Entertainment Law and Business, 42st Annual Trust and Estate Conference and the 2016 Institute for Corporate Counsel.  These seminars will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, Friday, November 18th, and Wednesday, December 7th, respectively. The spring seminars are our annual Tax Institute, Real Estate Institute, and IP Institute.
Those who participate will be supplied with breakfast and lunch on the day of the events, as well as $10 per hour for their efforts.

2017 UCLA Law Fellows Program
The Law Fellows Program provides early academic development to high-potential undergraduate students and college graduates, with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA at a four-year undergraduate institution.  The initial deadline is October 21, 2015. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to ensure maximum consideration.  The program activities will commence in January 2017, and admission decisions for the program will be made throughout December.

The PDF file may be completed electronically and submitted to outreach@law.ucla.edu.  Anyone who is unable to complete the document electronically may print the application, complete it by hand and submit it to us by email, regular mail or fax (as indicated on the document).

2016 Women, Law, and Legal Advocacy Seminar
hosted by Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN)

Extended Information Sessions
In our extended information session, you will enjoy the same presentation as our Nuts and Bolts Information Session, including an overview of the highlights of a USC Gould education and tips regarding the application process. Additionally, the Deans or Directors of Student Affairs and Career Services will highlight ways their departments support incoming students. A panel of current law students will discuss life as law students and answer any of your questions related to student life. Finally, the program will conclude with a tour of the law school led by our Student Ambassadors.

Nuts and Bolts Information Sessions
These shorter sessions include a discussion of the highlights of a USC Gould education and the intricacies of the application process. After attending, you should have a greater understanding of what Gould can offer you and be confident in submitting the strongest possible application. 2016 WORLD INDIGENOUS LAW CONFERENCE
As a convening partner, Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory is recruiting undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in law as volunteers for the upcoming event co-convened by the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples at UC Irvine on October 19-22, 2016.
The world law conference is held every two years and will be hosted this year in North America for the first time. This conference is an international forum aimed at gathering Indigenous lawyers, practitioners, academics and those interested in understanding issues facing Indigenous Peoples. The focus is on international discourse on Indigenous Peoples’ jurisprudence, specifically legal issues, rights and strategies.
