MLK Weekend Camp at Clearwater Cove
Friends,
We kicked off the spring semester of ministry with MLK weekend camp for high school kids. Terrible weather--but it didn't stop leaders from leaning in with kids and didn't stop God from moving!
Two girls, self-proclaimed atheiests, asked honest questions and seriously started considering their worldviews. In a cabin of 14 guys, 7 stayed behind after a cabin time (discussion between kids and leaders after a club talk on the gospel) to more deeply interact over what it means to be saved and if this is something they may want to do. So many stories! Please pray that kids would continue to process the gospel and that leaders would have wisdom in answering their questions. Some of these kids have met and will meet Jesus for the first time!
Over the weekend, all 11 ministry teams held team retreats to pray and plan for their semester. Please pray that they will continue to follow the Lord's leading in connecting them to kids in the schools where they do ministry.
Last night we had our first leader meeting of the semester. Incredible energy and excitement as 100 NWA YL leaders anticipate how God will continue to move through the spiritual fog that encompasses so many of our adolescents--the fog that hides true identity and increases insecurity in a world where social media seems to dominate our culture...ever moving targets at which kids are supposed to aim in order to win.
In such a world, may we come together to show the generation that there is security in the One who is Light, with no Fog to interfere.
Next weekend, we have YoungLives weekend camp at Clearwater Cove. Please be praying for the girls and babies, and their leaders going with them, that they may see the Light of Jesus as their beacon in an ever-changing world.
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:2) May it be so.
