Hello Richmond District Residents and Merchants,
I hope that everyone enjoyed a safe and happy holiday.
It seems that rainy season is upon us, it is going to be wet and windy out there! The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offers tips for driving in inclement weather:
* Before heading out, know the weather and traffic conditions, and plan your route accordingly. Give yourself some extra time to get where you’re going safely, because you'll be driving more slowly.
* Increase your following distance so that you'll have plenty of time to stop for vehicles in front of you. Slow down!
* Don’t drive through flooded roadways, and avoid pockets of standing water.
* Check the condition of your tires for tread depth and make sure each tire is filled to the recommended pressure, which is on a label located on the driver's side door frame.
* Watch for downed trees and power lines.
* Always turn your headlights on when the wipers are on. This is not just so you can see, but so others can see you!
* Make sure your windshield wipers work; replace worn blades.
