Door-to-door marketing (door knocking) doesn't have a great reputation--it's something that professional real estate persons don't often do. Unlike the National Do Not Call Registry, which makes telephone calling more difficult, there is no "Do Not Knock" list. These days, real estate professionals are using door-to-door marketing to draw new business.
Door-to-door marketing just means going around the neighborhood, knocking on doors to talk to homeowners to see if they've considered selling. Keep in mind that about 5 percent of all homeowners move every year. Knocking on doors will result in conversation and possible leads. These leads mean money. Even if you don't catch the homeowner, your door hangers can help deliver your message and serve as a reminder that you are there for them when the time comes for selling their homes!
