2016-17 Winter Sports Update

BOYS BASKETBALL


BOYS BASKETBALL AT DISTRICT  FINAL THIS SATURDAY


The Comets (20-2) will prepare to play for a District Championship and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen when they face Centerville this Saturday, March 11th, 3:00 pm at UD Arena. The Elks (15-8) defeated Wayne 74-58 to advance to face the Comets. The winner will earn a Regional Semi-Final berth at Wright State University on Wednesday, March 15th.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
 MASON VERSUS WEST TONIGHT AT TRENT ARENA!


Mason (22-3), ranked second in the Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll behind Lakota West and fifth in the Associated Press Division I statewide poll, will play Lakota West in the Sweet Sixteen (Regional Semi-Final) this TONIGHT at Kettering Fairmont’s Trent Arena. West (24-2) also had a “come-from-behind contest on Saturday, defeating Beavercreek 53-51 to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16. 

The contest will be a re-match of last years Regional Final in which Mason came away with a win then went on to a State Runner Up finish in 2016. The two teams split the series this season with Mason winning 44-42 and West 64-61. The Comets take a seven-game winning streak into the game. Tip off is set for 8:00 pm. The winner will play either Mt. Notre Dame or McAuley on Saturday, March 11th for a trip to State.

WRESTLING TEAM PREPARES FOR STATE!



Mason Advances 8 Wrestlers to Vye for State Titles!

Mason placed 9 wrestlers and advanced a school record eight wrestlers to the OHSAA 2017 State Wrestling Tourney in Columbus this coming weekend. 

Below is a list of Mason placers and State qualifiers;

106 Pacey Najdusak 3rd Place*

120 Colin Schuster 1st Place*

126 Jaimen Hood 1st Place*

132 Zach Donathan 1st Place*

138 Chris Donathan 2nd Place*

160 Jack Stein 3rd Place*

170 Eric Vermillion 4th Place*

195 Seph Wiegand 5th Place (state alternate)

285 Zaid Hamdan 3rd Place*

Mason's 2016-17 Wrestling season will come to a dramatic finish at the State Championships at the Jerome Schottenstein Center (OSU) in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday thru Saturday, March 9-11.
