New Exhibit Buzzing With Wonder

"She Works Hard For The Honey– So Don't Waste It!" a new exhibit about the global effect of food waste and its impact on pollinator populations – bees, birds, butterflies, and bats - opens today at Thrillville, located on the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio. Created by S.C.R.A.P. Gallery, the exhibit also features "Pollination Investigation," a poster exhibit from Smithsonian Gardens and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.

"She Works Hard For The Honey" brings together educators, scientists, artists, and students to explore how pollinators nourish our planet by helping plants to reproduce and create the foods we need to survive. Participating local schools include Bella Vista Elementary, John Kelley Elementary, Sunny Sands Elementary, Sacred Heart School, Nellie N. Coffman Middle, Cathedral City High, and La Familia High schools.
The exhibit is made possible by the Cathedral City Environmental Conservation Division.

That's Really Hard Work

Always female. Without the labor and dedication of the worker bee, the honeybee colony could not survive. She forages for food, builds, protects, and cleans the hive. Sound familiar?

In celebrating the role of bees in our environment, we invited 20 female artists from around the country to interpret and illuminate the worker bee.

Bees & The Four R’s
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Responsibility

Practicing The Four R’s lessens the need to extract more resources from our planet. When we do that, we decrease our impact on the natural world – the world we all live in. We all need a clean and healthy environment to thrive – you, me, and the bees!
