Occupational Therapy Recovery Conference 2017:

Achieving Clinically Meaningful Care

and Personal Recovery

 
October 26 and 27, 2017

The Edmonton Zone Occupational Therapy Practice Council, in partnership with the Society of Alberta Occupational Therapists, is pleased to present a two-day OT Recovery Conference that offers addiction and mental health service providers the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of personal recovery and evidence-based measures that support recovery-oriented interventions.

Dr. Skye was recently appointed as a Federal Advisor of Mental Health to Canada’s Minister of Health, the Honourable Jane Philpott. 


Day 1

Learning Objectives:


  • Gain a deeper understanding of the core concepts and essence of the recovery model.
  • Learn about rigorous conceptual and measurement models for personal recovery such as the Personal Recovery Outcome Measure (PROM).
  • Discuss the barriers to implementing effective recovery-oriented interventions and reflect on ways to overcome this through a panel discussion.
  • Develop skills in evaluating and choosing recovery measurements that are fit for purpose in clinical practice and research.

Day 2 
October 27, 2017 | 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Learning Objectives:


  • Explore what personal recovery means for individuals living with complex needs and what constitutes as a “good outcome” for people who experience severe mental health, addiction, physical health, and socio-economic challenges.
  • Witness a personal wellness journey through an interactive workshop.
  • Discuss the role of Occupational Therapists as evidence-based leaders in mental health rehabilitation who can impact policy and mental health service delivery.

Who should attend?

Clinicians, paraprofessionals (including SAOT members in any category of membership) students and public.

→ Participants may register for both days or for one day if preferred. 
→ Registration fee includes lunch. Deadline is October 13, 2017.

→ Clinicians, paraprofessionals, and students receive a certificate of completion.
