Dr. Emily Splichal, founder of Evidence Based Fitness Academy, gives us this month's healthy hint - just in time for ped-friendly temps!
With the warmer months finally upon us, we are entering one of the highest foot injury rate seasons. As people begin to pull out their summer sandals and transition to outdoor workouts, foot recovery is key.  One of my favorite foot recovery tips is to stand on a golf ball for at least 5 minutes per foot at the end of each day. So many powerful soft tissue structures pass through or insert in the bottom of the foot making this simple golf ball release feel like a full body massage! If you are new to plantar foot release, start by sitting or rolling the foot then build up the pressure to a full stand on the golf ball.

Elastik Class with Rocky Bornstein, PT
Wednesdays, 9-10am! Sign up now.

The Elastik is an injury protection exercise training system that allows the dancer or mover to feel more dramatically where their weaknesses are as they work to maintain the integrity of their alignment. This tool allows the mover to be independent from fixed equipment, emphasizes strengthening while on your feet, and is adaptive to individuals of all ages and levels of skill. The cognitive awareness and strength that is developed carries over into one’s daily and dancing life.
$27/class, $100/5-pack; 10 person max.
