Friends,
Sunday night we welcomed and commissioned 28 new Young Life leaders on 11 ministry teams, bringing us to 100 volunteer leaders in reaching for the lives of adolesents in Northwest Arkansas.
Young Life leaders are tasked with a specific mission: to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ incarnationally to teenagers and college students, so that they may be able to know and respond to Him.
When we say "incarnationally," we mean for YL leaders to live out what the apostle Paul wrote so profoundly in 1 Thessalonians 2:8 – “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.”
God chose flesh and blood relationships with people by sending His son, Jesus, to live among humans. How simple and profound and beautiful; God came and lived in the midst of the world He created. He chose to be WITH people, AVAILABLE to their needs, and SHOW them unconditional love (John 1:14)...
Incarnational, relationship driven ministry is proactive. As a leader, you will consistently step outside of your comfort zone to initiate relationships with all kinds of people. (from the NWA Young Life Leadership Training Manual)
Please pray for these new leaders to have a fruitful and lasting impact on the lives of kids, ages 12 to 22. Pray the Lord's protection and provision for them as they begin the journey of leaving their places of comfort to take the initiative in meeting kids far from Jesus, getting to know them, and earning the right to be heard.
