LA JOLLA PLAYHOUSE BRINGS THEIR WITHOUT WALLS SERIES ONLINE WITH SPITTIN' TRUTH TO POWER WHILE LIGHT LEAPING FOR THE PEOPLE
Truth to Power
Spittin’ Truth To Power While Light Leaping For the People is a powerful intergenerational piece using images, music and storytelling styles reminiscent of the griot. Between fire and brimstone preaching, the intimate vulnerability of prayer, and the invitation to fellowship, renowned San Diego poet Alyce Smith Cooper and acclaimed DJ and musician Shammy Dee are reaching to penetrate the hearts of the people. This three-part spoken verse encompasses the juxtaposition of past/present, yin/yang, male/female with the dream of transformations hoped for and imagined. It is both a personal moment and a collective piece – a springing forward into a leap of light.

MUSICALFARE THEATRE PRESENTS STORIES OF LIFE
Stories of Life
Stories of Life is a World Premiere original musical based on the actual words of elder Americans residing in independent, assisted living, and nursing care facilities at Beechwood Continuing Care in 2001. These extraordinary stories from ordinary people feature a resilience and a humanity that seem especially vital during our current times.
This 40-minute musical features the stories of dozens of elder Americans, portrayed by four actors, sometimes spoken and sometimes sung using original music.  Greenscreen technology is used to establish settings, time periods and to evoke the memories of the viewers using period photographs.
Written, directed and conceived by Randall Kramer, the production features George Brown, Debbie Pappas, Michele Marie Roberts and Doug Weyand. Technical direction and videography are provided by Chris Cavanagh. Available to stream on MusicalFare Theatre's website from March 5 - April 9.
NEW YORK THEATRE BARN'S NEW WORKS SERIES SPOTLIGHTS ANJOU AND FOR TONIGHT
New York Theatre Barn
Now in its 14th season, New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series presents exclusive “pre-premieres” of new musicals in the early stages of development. New York Theatre Barn is keeping original live theatre alive during these unprecedented times. From our homes to yours, we are excited to share and experience the magic of live theatre in development.
The next installment on Wednesday, March 17th will be a 1-hour virtual live stream which will include excerpts from two new musicals:
  • Anjou: The Musical Horror Tale (Music by Guillermo Mendez M., Lyrics by Guillermo Mendez M. and Guadalupe Sandova, New English Translation by Javier Vilalta) - Anjou: The Musical Horror Tale is a modern Mexican opera which recently had its English-language premiere. The musical is a cautionary tale set in 16th century France, revolving around the massacre of Saint Bartholomew in 1572. Fusing Renaissance-inspired melodies, modern orchestrations and Latinx-influenced tunes, Anjou turns a tragic moment in history into a riveting exploration of kindness and acceptance against a backdrop of injustice, prejudice, and ruthless ambitions.
  • For Tonight (Book by Whitney Rhodes, Shenelle Salcido and NAMT Associate Member Spencer Williams, Music and Lyrics by Shenelle Salcido and Spencer Williams, Orchestrations by Shenelle Salcido) - When their parents die of a mysterious illness in their small Welsh village, surviving siblings Thomas, Haydon, and Nettie are forced to fend for themselves. Inspired by the Romani who once shared their home, Haydon heads off to Liverpool, guitar in hand, to find what he's been missing. There he meets a Romani woman who speaks to his wandering soul. With a riveting indie-rock/folk score, For Tonight explores the indelible power of home.
Produced by Joe Barros and Jen Sandler, the event streams live on New York Theatre Barn's YouTube channel on Wednesday, March 17th at 7pm ET. The New Works Series has received support in part by NAMT's Innovation & Expoloration Fund.

Book & Lyrics by James D Sasser (Fest '14, Cubamor)
Le Comte Noir is a brand new musical about the untold story of the real Count Of Monte Cristo. Alexandre Dumas is struggling with writer's block. To beat it he must reconcile what happened to his father — the wrongfully imprisoned Haitian-born hero of the French Revolution and rival to Napoleon — a legacy that inspired what many consider the son’s greatest literary work. Commissioned by Manhattan School of Music's New Musicals Initiative, Le Comte Noir was also developed at a TheatreWorks Silicon Valley Writer's Retreat, and a part of the Michigan State University New Musical Dramaturgy Project. This developmental premiere was made possible by MSM's Cultural Inclusion Initiative.
The production is available to stream on Broadway On Demand February 26 - August 31.
