AMAS MUSICAL THEATRE TAKES YOU ON A MUSICAL JOURNEY IN FOUND IN TRANSLATION
Found in Translation
Amas Musical Theatre will present a virtual presentation of Found in Translation, a solo musical journey written and performed by Luis Santeiro. It will launch online beginning April 28, 2021 at 7:00pm (followed by a Q&A) and will be available on demand through May 5, 2021. Tickets are free, but reservations are required at www.amasmusical.org.
All proceeds will benefit Amas Musical Theatre’s education and theatre programs. The rhythms of your youth are indelibly stamped on your soul. Luis Santeiro left Cuba when he was twelve. After that traumatic transition, he was determined to become all-American and leave his Latin past behind. He found that it was not so simple. Through song and story, Found in Translation explores the loss of home, and the discovery of the added richness in being a blend of two cultures.
NEW PRODUCTIONS NOW AVAILABLE ON BROADWAY ON DEMAND
Share the Floor

Share the Floor

Born out of events arising from the BLM movement, Share The Floor is the brainchild of Christopher Gattelli, Broadway choreographer/director who recognized the need to address change in the arts for the BIPOC community. Determined to actively be a part of the solution, Chris enlisted Vasthy Mompoint, veteran Broadway actress/performer and daughter of Haitian immigrants, as well as Phil LaDuca, renowned Broadway and film shoe designer, with the intent of bringing like-minds together, who are dedicated to opening up new opportunities within the arts community.

First episode premieres May 5th on Broadway on Demand
We Have To Hurry

We Have To Hurry
We Have to Hurry is a new play by Dorothy Lyman. At a retirement community in sunny Cedar Key, Florida, 70 year-olds Margaret and Gil are forced apart in their adjacent condos because of the mandatory isolation for all residents. Across their neighboring balconies, Gil who is seriously in love with her, observes Margaret’s frustrations and realizes he must use his wit and humor because every moment is precious. We Have to Hurry, but can he persuade her to come downstairs and take a walk on the beach with him?
In keeping with the play’s touching message, all profits from the live stream of We Have to Hurry will be donated to The Actors Fund Home East and West. Owned and operated by The Actors Fund, the residences offer short-stay rehabilitation, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care services for individuals who have dedicated a major portion of their professional lives to the performing arts and entertainment.
The event takes place live on Broadway on Demand on May 1st.
The Royale

The Royale
The 2016 Obie and Drama Desk Award-winning The Royale is not actually a play about boxing! The play is about the life of the outsider in America as much as it is about charismatic African-American boxer Jay “The Sport” Jackson. The stylized and stunning conception of Marco Ramirez was realized by director Rachel Chavkin.

Directed by Sharon Maroney
Music Direction by Brian Michael
Written and Composed by Jason Robert Brown (Fest '97, Songs For A New World)
An emotionally powerful and intimate musical, The Last Five Years tells the bittersweet tale of a brief marriage between two young artists. Jamie, a literary prodigy, begins his at the onset of the relationship. The two narratives intersect on their wedding day before diverging again to arrive at the beginning, and end, of their five years together.
The production stars Kailey Rhodes and Jeff Rosick, and streams April 23 - May 16. Available at broadwayrose.org.

MUSIC THEATRE OF MADISON ANNOUNCES STAGGERED RELEASE OF CONCEPT ALBUM AN AMERICAN MYTHOLOGY
An American Mythology
Who are our heroes?
Music Theatre of Madison's album, meant to be the first step in the journey toward a full production, explores the tropes of America in the style of myths, written by BIPOC Wisconsin writers. A powerful natural element comes to life. A man takes a magical substance to fit in. A woman visits a distant land to colonize its inhabitants. And much more. It asks us to consider, who are our heroes? What happens when we shift our perspectives? And how many of our guiding principles destroy rather than protect?
This album has a staggered release beginning May 14. Songs are $1.49 each or $14.99 for the entire album of eleven pieces. Check out MTMadison.com for more information.
NEW YORK THEATRE BARN'S NEW WORKS SERIES SPOTLIGHTS SHE REACHED FOR HEAVEN AND CO-FOUNDERS (FEST '20)

From our homes to yours, we are excited to share and experience the magic of live theatre in development.
The next installment on Wednesday, April 28th (tonight!) will be a 1-hour virtual live stream which will include excerpts from two new musicals:
  • She Reached For Heaven - Music and Lyrics by Oliver Houser, Book by Hunter Bird (Fest '18, XY) - On the outside, high school senior Jes Holt is doing everything she’s supposed to. On the inside, she’s never felt more alone and longs for something she can’t name. Set against the backdrop of the greatest drug crisis in our country’s history, She Reached for Heaven is an original coming-of-age story about the devastations of addiction, and one woman’s journey to choose life rather than escape it.
  • Co-Founders (Fest '20) - Book and Lyrics by Adesha Adefela, Beau Lewis and Ryan Nicole Austin, Music by Jodie Ellis, Josh "Budo" Karpm, Cava Menzies and Brian Watters
Co-Founders is the story of the two most unlikely partners in the history of Silicon Valley. Esata Thompson, a black female coder from Oakland, and Conway Delouche, a small town college dropout, take on the most competitive startup accelerator in the world - where the privileged make a killing while the people across the bridge grind to survive.
Produced by Joe Barros and Jen Sandler, the event streams live on New York Theatre Barn's YouTube channel on Wednesday, April 28th at 7pm ET. The New Works Series has received support in part by NAMT's Innovation & Exploration Fund.

To beat it he must reconcile what happened to his father — the wrongfully imprisoned Haitian-born hero of the French Revolution and rival to Napoleon — a legacy that inspired what many consider the son’s greatest literary work. Commissioned by Manhattan School of Music's New Musicals Initiative, Le Comte Noir was also developed at a TheatreWorks Silicon Valley Writer's Retreat, and a part of the Michigan State University New Musical Dramaturgy Project. This developmental premiere was made possible by MSM's Cultural Inclusion Initiative.
