Dear Writer:
In the future, hoverboards will be so last year and everyone will have jet packs with personalized jet pack covers, like iPhone covers but explosion resistant. You know, just in case the jet pack malfunctions when you’re happily cruising over to the neighbor kid’s house.
It may seem like the future, with its instantaneous transportation methods and other wonders, is far away, but don’t despair. There are plenty of amazing things about today’s world too.
Online and One-Day Classes
If you missed signing up for the Fall Session or can’t make it to Lighthouse in person, you can still join classes through the magic of an incredibly new gadget called The Internet.
Check out all the one-day classes here.
This week’s Friday 500 includes a craft! Join Lighthouse member and Super Volunteer Darcee Freier to learn about paper making (speaking of advanced technology!).
Writer’s Buzz: Story of a Book
Join us this Saturday, October 25, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM for the next Writer’s Buzz. Authors Michael Henry (Active Gods), Thomas McNeely (Ghost Horse), Seth Brady Tucker (We Deserve the Gods We Ask For), and Benjamin Whitmer (Cry Father) will tell the stories of how they guided their most recent books to publication.
Fly-By Writer’s Project with Rebecca Makkai
It might not be by jet pack, but the magnificent Rebecca Makkai, author of The Hundred-Year House, will be flying in for a visit November 8 & 9. She’ll teach two craft talks and join us for our Vintage Soiree, an evening reception and reading.
Want to brush up on your reading? Come to our free book talk on The Hundred-Year House Friday, November 7, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. RSVP here.
The future is now,
