Live music in the Kaffebar at Norway House
Enjoy a free, live concert in the Kaffebar with Roar Dons!
Roar Dons is a Norwegian singer-songwriter living in Tromsø, Norway. Over the past 5 years, Roar Dons has released 5 albums; the live album Roar Dons & Friends (2015), Natta e over (2017), Snart e morran her (2019), Videre (2021), as well as the Christmas album Endelig Jul again (2021).
Roar Dons spent a year in St. Paul as an exchange student in the 70s and still frequently visits his “family” here. Roar is still frequently playing concerts with his friend and music collaborator, John Wright who lives in St. Paul.
Roar Dons’ music is a mix between jazz and pop and appeals to an adult audience with a sense of good lyrics in Norwegian. In between all the song development and recording of new music, Roar Dons is always very eager to play live for an audience. Dons tours both regionally and nationally, and plays both solo and with a full band.

Waffles in the Kaffebar
We're so excited to announce that we're serving Norwegian vafler in our Kaffebar once more. We're working with ELMO Catering's Chef Francisco to produce our own batter using the recipe from Mindekirken's Cookbook--our version uses cardamom!
Stine Aasland's Nordic Waffles have been such a hit at the Minnesota State Fair and in grocery stores. Norway House is proud to have been a part of Aasland's journey in finding a footing in the United States. Click here to find Nordic Waffles in the frozen food aisle near you.
New Drinks & Noshes
Our preferred caterer, ELMO & Chef Francisco, is working with Kaffebar Manager, Sara Howard on new additions to the menu. We're serving homemade soup, smørbrød (open-faced sandwiches), pølse med lompe (lefse hotdog) made with local all-beef hotdogs from Kramarczuk's, as well as a selection of bakery items and on-the-go snacks.
Enjoy Solo orange soda directly from Norway, sparkling flavored Voss water, Spring Grove Sodas, and a seasonal selection of beers, ciders, mead, and wine. We have a full espresso menu, proudly serving Peace Coffee and Ingebretsen's signature Biking Viking coffee blend.
Try a cardamom hot chocolate or a lovely Autumn cappuccino in a cup and saucer.
New Hours
We've updated our regular hours! Stop in to Norway House, the Galleri, the Kaffebar, and ALSO Ingebretsen's soon!

| Bokprat with Liv Marit Haakenstad
Liv Marit Haakenstad started doing genealogy research at the age of 12. Born in Lillehammer and raised in Biri, Norway, she has written more than a hundred articles and nine books on genealogy, Norwegian emigration, and genealogical technology.
As a consultant, Haakenstad often assists international heir-research firms and works frequently as a forensic genealogist. She has contributed to several genealogical TV shows, including Who Do you Think You Are? (BBC and Canada), and Norwegian Anno.
Having taught courses at Norway House before the pandemic, we're excited to host her for an informative and lively book talk in celebration of her latest release, A Guide to Norwegian Genealogy, Emigration, and Transmigration.
About the book
The first part of the book gives an overall view on the Norwegian emigration history, before taking you to Great Britain, which was one of several routes for transmigration. Further on, you will get an insight on what happened when Norwegian emigrants arrived in North America. The second part is about sources in the United States and Canada. What information can you find in these sources that show the way back to Norway? The book also thoroughly covers Norwegian sources. Finally, the whole book finishes off with a chapter about genealogical methods.
