Marie Laveau and St. John's Eve Lecture

Don't miss this! Please join Save Our Cemeteries and the Pitot House to celebrate St. John’s Eve on June 23rd, 2022 at 6 PM at the Pitot House. Local historian and author Sally Asher will deliver a lecture on Marie Laveau, her influence on New Orleans culture, and the history of St. John’s Eve. Afterward, you are welcome to stroll over less than a block away to the Magnolia Bridge to join Sallie-Ann Glassman of the Healing Center for her annual Headwashing Ceremony (a form of Vodou baptism) dedicated to Marie Laveau. We encourage you to wear all white with a white scarf for your head. The price includes the lecture, a glass of wine (additional glasses will be available at a minimal charge), and a gris-gris bag to use as an offering for the ceremony. Tickets are $30 per person and space is limited.

Announcing a New Combo Tour! St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 and the Pitot House

Then watch a presentation about the funeral traditions during the time of James Gallier Sr. and James Gallier Jr. by Save Our Cemeteries tour guide, Jeanne Wilson.
