Dear MNPS & Community Member:

Arguably, the concept of ending, particularly of a good situation we are enjoying in life, rightly produces all sorts of negative emotions and reactions in us and through us. Whether it is the loss of a relationship, the end of one’s career or business, or the ultimate end of all: the loss of a loved one, these situations are extremely hard and difficult for us to find closure.

Yet, I believe certain ends are meant to happen because a new (and sometimes better) beginning awaits us. It has happened for me and perhaps has happened for you as well. Therefore, we may want to consider the end of something or someone as a fluid process we need to accept to be ready for the opportunities the new beginning may bring.

Finally, I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Results from the 3rd grade ELA TCAP exams show that MNPS students have scored the highest level of proficiency since the TNReady system was implemented in 2017.

The Legal Aid Society and partners are hosting a debt relief clinic Saturday, June 3.

They would like people to call and register for the clinic by this TODAY, May 26. Every person who registers and is qualified will receive a Zoom link next week with instructions on how to log into the virtual clinic.

At the clinic, the organizers will have a US Bankruptcy Judge deliver introductory remarks along with general information regarding bankruptcies and debt relief strategies. After the Judge speaks, each client will then be assigned a Zoom breakout room with an attorney or two. In that breakout room, the client will receive an individualized consultation with the volunteer lawyer(s). Although the attorneys will have the opportunity to take cases from the clinic, the expectation is that this will be a consultation session lasting approximately 30-45 minutes.

Students currently enrolled in a Tennessee school and entering the 7th grade in August 2023 must provide the school an updated Tennessee Immunization Certificate with proof of an additional immunization:

Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (“Tdap”): required regardless of Td history (2013 update)

As a service to MNPS families, Metro Nashville Public Schools Office of Student Health and Metro Public Health Department are hosting a 7th grade vaccination clinic on Saturday, June 3. Immunizations are available if your child has TennCare, no insurance or insurance that does not pay for vaccines. Appointments are NOT required. Parents/guardians must bring proof of their student’s current vaccines.

Location: MNPS Support Hub Campus @ the Health Center adjacent to the MNPS Office of English Learners, 615 Fessey Court, Nashville, TN 37204.

Vaccines available:

Tdap (REQUIRED for entry into 7th grade)

HPV (optional)

Meningococcal (optional)

NOTE:

Parents/guardians must bring proof of their student’s updated vaccines.
